Margveti Zestafoni is a Georgian association football club. It is based in Zestafoni.

History

In 1990 Georgian Football Federation was found, to held they own football competition and leave Soviet football league system. Clubs likes FC Dinamo Tbilisi and FC Guria Lanchkhuti, gave up their place in Soviet Top League to join.

At that time Zestafoni have their own club FC Metallurg Zestafoni. A new club was formed as Margveti Zestafoni joined Pirveli Liga and promoted in the first season. Margveti was a member of Umaglesi Liga and archive their best season in 1995-96 by finished runner-up. But in 1997-98 season, Margveti finished the bottom and relegated. Margveti being declared bankrupt in 2000.

In 2006 was founded "Margveti-2006" in lower division and recently in Meore Liga , but it is different (municipal) club.

City Rival

Although FC Zestafoni and Metallurgi Zestafoni came from same city, they never met in the league, and both club came from the succession of Metallurg Zestafoni.
